Could it be diet related?

Diet is always a difficult topic, as there often is a genetic component.

Some diets that may help people with health problems with unknown/unclear cause, such as irritable bowel syndrome, are these:

  • Low FODMAP diet: FODMAP - Wikipedia, which comes down to avoiding certain types of carbohydrates that are pooly absorbed in the intestines. These are present in certain types of vegatables, fruits, artificial sweeteners, dairy products.
  • Low carb dieet, combined with intermittent fasting. Which stimulates the body to clean itself, and which is able to reduce the risk of kinds of well known diseases (ranging from cancer to dementia).
  • Carnivore diet. (meat only diet)

Low FODMAP and low carb diet both have a pretty solid scientific support, are a growing in popularity. But the Carnivore diet is too new for scientific support, and basically is an very extreme version of the low carb diet. The carnivore diet can also be used as an extreme elimination diet, to find out which foods could be causing problems.

Mikaila Peterson (daughter of the famous psychologist Jordan Peterson) has battled with a lot of health problems (bone replacements etc) since young age and tried everything without success. One of her problems was an unknown skin problem. The carnivore diet seems to have fixed her problem and that of her dad, Jordan himself. But the long term use of carnivore diet may be risky, as not much is known about the long term effects.
